I’m pretty sure we have already had several players over 670 Fargo who are also very experienced at One Pocket in our MOT’s.
I’m more concerned a “One Pocket only” specialist signing up who does not really have a Fargo. But setting a Fargo limit skims off a few ringers anyway.
Steve, your tournament has a fargo rating max, so no one from FB should be able to get in without a verification of their fargo rate. So you should be ok. But yes, verify, ask others who might know this player and so forth. If they do not have a fargo rate, oh well, they better get one, or have forum verified membership, as you stated.
But yes, in today's world the fargo rate can kill your action, unless you can use it undercover (you are much better than your fargo rate).
I cannot participate in Western bca unless my fargo rate is verified. Usually our league operator verifies and signs off on a couple of requirements.
A new unknown player to bcapl/csi league play, starts off with a rating of 450 or so. But, if your league has a good operator and the player is better than that then they can get the national board to adjust it, so it is fair. If their league is set up so at the end of a session they have team playoffs, then that allows for sandbagging. My league does not have playoffs, use to so sandbagging was horrible, so now we play hard (no sandbagging) for the top teams get in the money.
A 670 rating is very high, especially for older players, but it can and does happen if they are talented and can maintain their talent.
In FB we can expect younger players in the range of 500 - 670 to participate that know OP and be formable. And yes, for this year's MOT I believe they will step up if travel at this short notice will allow this. We'll see how FB in Florida and nearby respond.
I mean, why not play and meet other FB's and Forum Players, and have a chance at some good prize $.
Good luck with the tournament, just a little insight on fargo rate, that I am sharing as I know it.
I guess a good question is, will your MOT tournament be fargo tracked? Players get a fargo rate or adjusted fargo rate, I do not have a clue how these regular or somewhat local tournaments work for fargo rate.
