I agree, Bill. HOB would be my home room if I lived in the area. Haven't been to Mountain View in a long time. I used to play tournaments in some of the SF rooms, and also on the Peninsula.
Years ago I lived in Santa Cruz (1971,Ben Lomond). I used to play at a poolroom in town where the owner would play me billiards. I was able to hustle up enough dough for cigs, beer and food-- in that order. I also came down to Sta Cruz to play in a 9-ball tournament in 1996. Can't remember the name of the room, but it might still be there. It was the first no-smoking room I'd ever been in. That's a hair-raising drive from Sta Cruz to San Jose!!
