Lots of people at the hall have been trying this shot and variations of it, and I wanted to show one of the variations which I was able to film. In total I have now seen 4 ways to make this shot and continue shooting.

thats how i would have tried to shoot your shot
it didnt seem possible coming from the angle you did to make it
obviously my assesment was wrong
his missisng the bank and making in your pocket is priceless
im sure we all have been there done that at some time

Set it up iii and you can see how I got my cueball in the middle of the table, although result wise, I like the bank much better. His cueball didn't have to leave the playing surface at all.
