Steve let the shot clock go. Action matches will never adopt that rule. Why would any player agree to that rule? I recommend that you take a long look at that IN/OFF Tony shot against Dennis in the Big One Match. It took him 10 minutes to pump himself up for that shot and we know the result................$100K takedown. You want him to decide to shoot that shot in 30 seconds? The suspense and drama kept us all on the stream thinking along with Tony while he finally shot that shot. Maybe the most amazing One Pocket shot ever given the circumstances.
Shot clocks need to become a accepted part of the game. The pros can operate with a 45 second clock. It's not rocket science.

I think shot clocks are a good idea too, 45 or 60 sec max with a couple extensions per game. For tourney play of course, late night action has always been played by the player's agreed upon terms & rules. For these challenge matches I would like to see them use one, but of course ultimately up to the players & stakehorses.

John, I think you hit the theme of this match, well day 1 sure looks that way!
It is amazing how much different this table plays vs. the MOT tables.

It looked to me like Tony was giving it his all. A couple of ill-timed scratches and a missed ball or two is all it takes to end up being 7-2.

It was interesting that one of the guest commentators stated; " that at another tournament that when the game winning ball was jawed and it was the opponent's shot they picked the ball up and spotted it plus one of the opponent's balls. No shot was taken, and they played as if it was a jumped cb/ob.
So Steve's virtual jump rule, so no balls are jumped off of the table. I like that rule on the game winning ball if the opponent has a clear shot at jumping the ball off of the table, but not a shot at following it in. I think the players can agree upon this scenario, and agree to do a virtual jump.

I feel to win a game then you should have to pocket the game winning ball, not just hang it. The way tables are playing these days it is easy to hang a ball even if you miss the shot by a ways.

Looks like game on with this challenge match, with 40K in the middle. Get it On!

What I don't like about the virtual jump rule is that the player doesn't always jump the table so there's some skill to it. I agree I don't like giving up the game because you can't jump the table.

My solution: have something like a 3 foul rule, if you hit two spectators during a set when jumping off the table, the third time loses the set. 🤣😂

I tried to get half way up to speed and watched a few of Tony recent matches. I saw him play some real nice one pocket and would even consider him halfway to a specialist which is great ie en started a thread about that shit. If he develops that even more he may be onto something. The only problem is if he does what I’m hoping he does and really takes one pocket only on he won’t get much of A payout for it. You see, pool is the only sport in the world where you lose income as you get better and refine your skill.
idgaf I still like billy in this match and don’t pm me I am not taking side bets im just digital whoofing from sidelines

I didnot even realize it has started. Well anyway my cheating pre match analysis is I like Tony’s game a lot but I see him screw up so much when he is running balls. Really careless stuff and he seems to make almost a habit of it. I liked billy and that was before I saw I guess he pulled out in the lead but whatever. If Tony keeps this one pocket mojo going I think he could spot billy a ball no problems in the future

Billy looking smooth as can be on bank after bank. Tony still comes with great One Pocket but Billy is rolling day 2 also.

A questionable safety choice by Billy to the wrong side of the balls gave Tony a chance to sneak back into that last game, but Tony bet too much on breaking out that side pocket cluster. I thought maybe he would clean up the loose balls more before going for that breakout.

Billy leads 14-6 after 2 days.

Banking Billy has a commanding lead of 14-6 after day two!
Tune in today starting at 5 p.m. CDT and see if T-Rex can make a comeback!!
There is almost 40k in the middle up for grabs, with Billy getting 8/7 and racing to 21.
