Hey Guys, I'm back and for good! I liked to start by getting info on where to pay and sign-up for the one pocket tournament at Chris's Billiard in Chicago, il. on April 4 thru April 6, 2025. If you can help, thanks.

Playing daily at the Santa Clara Senior Center and doing my best to keep the tables clean.

Working hard to get the folks to start playing a little One Pocket rather than 15-1 Last Pocket 8-Ball.
New member, first post, actually question. I understand the different or optional rules regarding making a ball in YOUR pocket on your break rerack or continue your inning but what is the rule for the breaker pocketing a ball on the break in the opponents pocket?
Bob Bills was the owner when I worked there and showed up most days. The food was fresh and delicious. Players from Family billiards like Delbert Wong, Charles Tam and Lawerence Lee were not only good players but consummate gentlemen. Every game from 3 cushion to straight pool to nine and six ball to eight ball and one pocket were played daily.
In the late 80’s player like Efren, Jose Parica, Delbert Wong and Hawaiian Brian played Filipino Gene in marathon matches. The quality of competition was astounding. Players from LA, NY, Chicago, Seattle,Houston, Las Vegas and parts of Canada would descend upon the Palace Billiards looking for action.
Oscar Dominguez’s dad was a fantastic table repairman and finished a lot tables at the Palace. I remember Bob Byrnes and Bud Harris as very good billiard players. I also remember the Oakland talent that would show up after Chinos would close. People like Oakland Herb Taylor, Rush Out Red, The Go away Kid and Billy Palmer.
Hi androd,
Thanks for your kind words. I'm trying to remember you, amazing nights at LeCue in the late 1960's. I hope we can reconnect.
Hello, can you refer me to someone who has the time and patience to give advice in starting a 1P League?

I ran two sessions of 1pkt league and had good participation. However, the league was doomed by the popularity of the pool room. Nine ball is very popular and teams have four to five players involved. One pocket was an individual league that had two players per table. and the players played seriously and did little for the beverage sales. We are now trying to schedule one weekend tournament per quarter.

Thanks, I am looking for advice on handicapping, etc. Can you give me an idea of your format, etc.
Bob, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your comments about my idea. Not to put anything on you, but do you have any knowledge about how to approach the DCC on this. I want obviously for it to be put forward in the best way possible, so it gets a fair consideration.
Hi Bob, this is Keith Stanton username Sappo. I have a question/request that I believe you will know the answer to. I just attempted to sent the question to you but there wasn't enough room on this message space. Im hoping you will send me your email or phone number so I can explain what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance for your help. Keith
Joe, you don't know me, but I know who you are and I know you have shown great interest in making one pocket better,.. as well as more accommodating to tournament venues. I have an idea that I think you could get behind. I have the same interests and an idea I would like your opinion on.

Sorry for the delay, I just saw your reply. I have a rule idea that you might be interested i

It removes the incentive to tap foul into the stack or into an OB

It forces shooting out of traps, risking a sellout and thus shortens games.

It forces more offensive play and increase viewer interest.

It has no effect on other lag fouls, except needed consideration of having to shoot again

"All fouls provide an option for the incoming player to return the table as the balls currently lay

It obviously wouldn't be opted on pocket scratches. OP.org members endorsing this rule are J Sparks, B Jewett, S. Lomako, Whitey, even S Booth is interested in having it tested at a tournament.

Thanks for listening

I think it's use would be rare and not affect how we play the game much, so only positive affects and no downsides
This rule could not be simpler or clearer, no exception. "All fouls provide an option to the incoming player to accept the shot or return it to the opponent as the balls lay." Lastly it will not change ANY other intentional a player wishes to take.
This rule will stop that scenario in its tracks. The effect will be shorter games by 4-5 minutes for every time this situation could happen otherwise, games will be more interesting to spectators because more risk means more mistakes and excitement and more offense because of those mistakles.
