Bank the one pocket speed for players below A , bank the one with extreme topspin and get down table on his long rail for a great shot at the 5 Play to miss the bank long ,not short.

Your pocket is by the 5. Both need 2View attachment 440257
I'd bank the one to my hole at pocket speed whilst holding the cue ball as close as possible to the side pocket, on the rail if possible. I wouldn't need to improve position on the 5 ball to shoot it easily if the one ball goes in. I wouldn't want the cue ball to come down the rail either because it would be easier for my opponent to shoot a bank on the one ball towards his hole or the 3 ball should I miss the bank shot.

I am sure I can spin the 5 in so I play it first. Then I try and 2 rail kick the 3 in. If I miss the 3 it should be safe.

I would bank the 1 ball pocket speed, using inside english to shorten it - it wants to go long. Safe play. 'First, do no harm.'

Doc you going to kick that 3 ball first? It is off the rail and you said that makes it easier.
There is a corner scratch looming on that kick.😉

Cut the 5 in, with right english, play position for a cut on the 3 at around the 1st or 2nd diamond on the long rail.

5 is frozen so right hand english makes that 5 hard to pocket and even harder to control whitey. IMHO

The last time I saw this shot played by a top player when it was not the only option, was Kim Davenport about 30 years ago , he hit it great and hung the 5 and lost.

I'm definitely banking at the 1-ball, hold the cueball right where the 1 is. Maybe even bank it long and slow to slide off the 5. Reason: We both need 2 balls. Don't need to play an aggressive shot that could lose me the match. 1 ball may go in and I'll have a shot on the 5.

Going against all the wisest one pocket players online, I will kick the 1 ball over to my pocket. This way, I will not lose control of the cue ball and give up a shot on the 3 ball,

The 1 is only about a chalk cube width off the rail.....so the only way you are kicking it at your pocket is the 4 railer. I am guessing that is not want you meant? 😉

I have the same mindset as "povpool" for selecting this shot over any other option.

I also agree with "unoperro" that there is not enough space between the rail and the one ball to kick it to your pocket. I would guesstimate that the closest the one ball might make it to the pocket by kicking rail the pocket is a bit more than a diamond's distance (approximately 14 inches).
