..............When Two Giants Play..............

On a bright and sunny day, somewhere near San Jose

Nearly everybody came to watch two giants play

Each of them was ready after waiting all these years

Putting all their cash up, stilling all their fears

One of them would surely lose, it's always been that way

Cause only one can be the best, that's why two giants play

Knocking on the door of greatness as they had so many times

Each of them were ready, both of them were primed

That's how it's always been, every time two giants play.

To all: I wrote this two years ago and now I offer you an opportunity to win $100 doing the same thing. I am offering $100 to anyone who can write a ditty in the same form as this one.

If it comes down to it then members will just have to vote on the best one. It must concern one-pocket, onepocket.org., a one-pocket player or a story concerning all three. I suppose I will have to break any ties.

Get out your pencils, pens, (Ducky get out your hammer & chisel) and get to writing.

This contest will run till midnight on Halloween, that gives you all one month and 16 days.

Good luck to each and all:D

I figured I would give it 5 minutes and it shows, haha. :)
P.S. Send my $100 to the one pocket.org player fund.

He awoke one morning with a hunger and
realized he was getting no younger.

Went to the hall to hit some balls,
no one was there as he waited for that call.

The phone rang and the houseman muttered, then
he called out across the room do you want some action brother?

Without looking up he cracked the rock spinning whitey
round and round, yells back to Charlie lets get down.

In walked a man much younger than he, bright eyed and
looking so eloquently.

Without waiting for the kid to open his trap,
son you must be lost and got the wrong map.

Taken aback the kid takes a deep breath swallowing that lump,
rack the balls old man and shut your yap up.

The clock went by and the hours went,
the two lions eager to win were hell bent.

Sure and steady but the kid was not ready,
he did not realize he was playing the legend called Fast Eddie.

The first letters (from top to bottom) of each sentence must spell ONEPOCKET:p . Minor alterations to the english language may be OK.

Early Entries Get Weight?

Early Entries Get Weight?

Old man Sharko sneered through his stubble
Not enough cash to stay out of trouble
Even though he hadn't played in years
Picked up his cue and quaffed some beers
Out the door and a bus across town
Came up thru the sewer to Dirty Spike's Get Down
Known as a tough joint most wouldn't haunt
Elder screwed it together and began to taunt
The drink was jarred, found out back dead in the rubble.🎱

The format is not long enough to tell a good story with only nine lines. Can you go through the one pocket letters two or three times?? I did a quickie anyway because Red Card did one.

Once upon a time down in the valley.
Night time fell as I strolled thru the alley.
Entered the back door and pulled out my cue.
Pointed at the black kid-how about you??
One pocket's what we like up in here.
Caught me son so go getcha gear.
Kept about even for seventeen hours.
Everyone bet I'd send him to the showers.
Then he broke me down like the might twin towers.......

Out of the mists of time they came.
Nobody knew them, except by nickname.
Each had his cue, his, "favorite weapon".
Perfectly balanced and tuned to perfection.
Outstanding players of a masterful game.
Chastised and hardened in the high stakes flame.
Keeping themselves "steeled" by playing all of the names.
Each one a mixture of strength, courage and mystery.
They will be legends in One Pocket History.

Here is my (no doubt) Pulitzer Prize winning treatise...Good job, Red Card, JimmyB, and Billy Jackets..You will probally win a Pulitzer too...(Hey, they gave Obama one,...just for breathing !)

Time for the guys blah, blah...in the white coats, RBL has finally lost it...blah,blah,blah.

Every "Cowboy", should have a "Cow".. to relieve sexual tensions, and boredom blah, blah, blah, blah.

Keep blah,blah,blahing me, you lint-brained doorknob...blah,blah.

Chicago crowd..The only crime ridden big city, blah,blah... that requires more dermatologist's, than cop's..blah,blah.

Only hopes Artie and Eddie will chime in.,blah,blah,blah. (note to Steve;..prepare for site crash)

Piss me off, willya..blah,blah...(the'Whitey bad, Beanie good' crack).....blah,blah,blah,blah.

Everybody knows the $100 bait, is an 'air barrel' blah, blah, blah.

No chance of you even having $100 left, after NFL losses...blah,blah,blah.

Only hope you bar 'Moonbeam', and the 'Bearded Lady' from the contest...(everyone knows, they are purrfesshunils)...blah,blah,blah.

There you have it...Concise, blah,blah, and pefect rhyming blah,blah. :D :D

Ralph Waldo Duck <---AKA Super Duck.

PS..Long debate with myself, over whether to use "Thin Skined" for the 'T'...but I demured, in the interest of the unstable peace..:p :p
(besides, I cleverly disguised it, and covered it in the 'C' line.)

PPS..By the way RBL,..more than a little concerned about your financial well being..Do you have enough money to give away, and still pay me your NFL wagering this coming season..Or will it be another "air barrel" this year ? Still waiting for the 10K loan you promised..

JB,

You did good, you don't need more lines:) . That's part of what makes it interesting, telling a story in 9 lines.

Ok Big D. I'll let it go at that. Its a good idea. I misspelled a key word (mighty) so if I edit, it will be to only spell that word. I said that I would never change or remove any post I make. later. Red Cards' was much better than mine. I love the jarring line at the end which rhymes with his first, sort of like a super limerick..........

WGFH,

I didn't want to quote your entire post as I see you were still editing it 6 1/2 hours after you posted it, don't you ever stop?

I've actually been considering retiring after the NFL season. I figure with the winnings from you and the pop bottles I pick up on the street I can live as comfortably as the top poolplayers do:p .

P.S. Don't be hijacking my thread you idiot:p . This is serious business:rolleyes: .

“One little game for all my bread!”
No one took him up on what he said.
Everyone stood back until through the crowd,
People made way for the one who was proud.
Over he came put his cue on the table.
Can I play you, sir? I’ll win if I’m able.
Kicking and banking and combos and more
Everyone gasped when he kick-banked the four
Then massed the last one that put it to bed.

Send Uncle Dick $100 Worth of YUKON JACK!

On the subject of pool,
No one was so cool,
Even those with the custom cue sticks,
Playing many a year
On the road, it was clear
Came the man they called San Jose Dick!
Kicking ass, taking names
Every woman was the same
Taking all of his twelve inch prick!

How's this one, CB:D

BH,

I believe you misspelled 12, the correct spelling is "f-i-v-e":) .

Such language will not do here young man, we have ladies reading this forum. I do appreciate the effort and your enthusiasm though.
