Good news, and good luck.

Scott and Alex... always a great match...
Hard to beat that. Efren, Busty, SVB all good candidates as well. I would personally rule out Orcullo because of Rob's experience. Another good draw would be a round robin among the (IMO) best young guns: Hall, Bergman, Smith, Roberts. (Skylar, Gray, Compton would all be suitable to fill any voids from that list.)
My next thoughts have to do with the question of where play will be, pool room or casino. If casino, fewer tables/smaller field works best. If pool room, largest field the room can handle appeals, both to me and to the casino.
Entry fee? Video/CD sales? Greg S. for tables/lights? Shuttle service? Action rooms? Lots of stuff to work out. We don't want to land all of it on Joe. After Joe sees what the casino attitude is, we need to think about who among us can help with arranging details.
I'll do anything I can.
Joe, I admire the quick action by you and your partner! If the casino comes on board there shouldn't be any impediment to constructing the event. And if it goes well, perhaps Diamond will get interested in the future. BTW if the event is in November, it ought to be dark enough to start at 5 P.M.Thanks for the kind words but we don't have anything locked in yet. Our concept right now seems to be a $10,000 added, 16 man field of the best one pocket players with a $2,000 entry, $1,000 rebuy option. At the same time, we will hold a money TBD added mini-tournament of 9-ball on bar tables open to the rest of the fans and players. It will be a three day event played only in the evenings, due to the lighting conditions of the Atrium. Bayou Billiards, the local sponsor, will be open early during the day and have action and open play during throughout. We will have shuttle service to and from the pool room on a regular basis and room rates at the casino hotel.
...
We plan to have the tournament live streamed for those who cannot attend. All this is open to review/modification as it is very early. We need to get the casino commitment first, and that happens tomorrow. Your input is welcome and needed to make this a great event.

Second meeting with Casino in the next week or so to finalize.
Nice work, Joe! Those dates are on a Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. That's not going to affect the pros, but of course the weekday scheduling could influence the amateurs who might want to play an open bar box event.Tentative date: November 4,5,6 2015

Is there a way to change formats, i.e. phoenix? Or too late?Great gesture by you Joe and hope something comes together. Unfortunately this event did not come together. I believe taking care of the players rooms/airfare/food & drink would have been a better way to go then the $2000 added and would help the backers to save some money and be worthwhile. I do hope to be able to stream an event like this in the future so keep me in mind.
