Personally I really enjoyed this 'biography' of three great players from the 40's, 50's 60's: Luther Lassiter, Fats, and Jersey Red. The book traces the background of all three players, culminating in the Johnson City tournaments of the 1960's. It's a well worthwhile read if you are curious about the traditional road player lifestyle and the Jansco Brother's Hustler's Jamborees. I thought it did a great job, especially following the careers of Red and Lassiter. Fats has been covered a whole lot elsewhere, but I felt like I learned a lot about both Red and Lassiter in the book.

I would definitely recommend this book.

Hustler Days

Hi Steve,

I read hustler days and your review was right on, I would also recommend this book, I would classify this book as a quick read mainly because once you pick it up it's difficult to put down (less than a week for me).

Regards,

John

It should be required reading for all 1P players

It should be required reading for all 1P players

I enjoyed everything except the Fats portion. I'm not a Fatman fan at all.

Quiz for careful readers...

Quiz for careful readers...

Here's a reading quiz for you One Pocket players...

At one point in the book Dyer describes the opening break for an important tournament game, yet seems to make two mistakes in his description of the break details -- only detectable by experienced One Pocket players.

Not to disparage the book, because it was very, very enjoyable -- just thought some of you might like picking out that detail :)
