Ohio is his home state and he's good friends with the host poolroom owner Alex Olinger.

Who else? Frost? JHall? Thorpe? The concept of the tournament is you get odds on your money from dead money, the name for players who enter with no chance to cash. When the entry fee is so high, you don't get much dead money, so odds on your money suffers. 1st place will pay 25K with a full field of 8. That's 4-1 on the money. Only Tony and Alex would be 4-1. Maybe Gorst. Everyone is else is at least 6-1 to win. I find it hard to believe that guys who don't win one pocket events would enter this one.

High dollar events have struggled to fill a field, which has led to the "David v. Goliath" formats seen at the Derby. Cheaper events insure a large field, which helps the room owner. It also satisfies our jones to play the champions. Most of the thriving events in the country are David v. Goliath formats. Only Buffalo's, Scotty Townsend and the Texas Open have high dollar events that have been successful. It will be interesting to see if he can get a full field for this event. Money seems to be cheaper these days and maybe 5K is not as bad as I think it is.

1. Tony Chohan: His tournament record speaks for itself
2. Alex Pagulayan: A little off his normal dominance
3. Chip Compton: Has dominated action matches, but indifferent in tournament play
4. Scott Frost: Mostly a tournament player now, is still a threat in any match
5. Josh Roberts: Most improved player in 2022.
6. Shane Van Boening: Still a threat, though does not play much.
7. Justin Hall: Perennial top 10
8. Fedor Gorst: Moving up quickly
9. Carlo Biado: Like Fedor, another contender learning quickly
10. Evan Lunda: Doesn't play much, but good finish at Buffalos

Honorable mention: Deuel, Gomez, Garcia, Calderon, Morra, Kiamco

We had an eight man at Lacy's Cue in 2016. Races to 7, best two players ended up in the finals. D. Smith double dipped Tony Chohan.
