After we got the Governor to reverse himself on banning pool, now it's time to get to gambling. When? March 29th, 2021 What: All Around championship: banks, one pocket and nine ball, Who? American citizens only to determine who is the best all around player in America. How much? $1,500 entry, limited to first 8 paid. Stream by poolactiontv.com. Flyer coming soon!

Buffalo's Pro Classic is still a go: May 26th, 2021 at Buffalo's Billiards.

Great concept, Joe! Seems like there ought to be more entries, but it's a wonderful event.

You'd be surprised. The players kind of know if they can compete. They'll take a flyer at the Derby because it pays deep, but with only the top 2 getting in the money, 8 is about the right number.

Looking forward to it Joe!

1. Tony Chohan
2. Scott Frost
3. SVB
4. Chip Compton
5. Justin Hall
6. Corey Deuel
7. Danny Smith
8. Billy Thorpe

That would be my guess for top 8 currently (in no particular order)

Either way it will be a magnificent event I am sure!

added to calendar ~

In no particular order, I would say these are the top 15 contenders:

1. SVB: Multiple time Derby City winner; considered the best American rotation player
2. Danny Smith: Getting back in stroke, this will be his first time back in the grease in over a year
3. Bergman: Widely considered one of the favorites in the field
4. JHall: Past Mosconi pick, top 10 in banks and one pocket, must be considered a favorite
5. Corey Deuel: All around threat, and one of the favorites
6. Chohan: One pocket specialist, but underrated in the other two disciplines
7. Frost: Another under the radar threat
8. Shannon Daulton: All around king, but is he still relevant in 2021?
9. Josh Roberts: Dangerous in all disciplines
10. Evan Lunda: under the radar threat in all three disciplines
11. Sky Woodward: Last American Master of the Table at Derby
12. Billy Thorpe: Two time winner at Derby One Pocket, reigning Derby City Banks champion
:13: John Schmidt: Mr. 600 also has a Derby One Pocket championship and a US Open 9 Ball Championship on his mantle.
14. Jeremy Jones: Former US Open 9 Ball, great banker and one pocket player
15 Chip Compton: Maybe the most improved American in the last year; top 5 in One Pocket, great banker and shooter

This list should generate some commentary. I would like to see Daulton come out and play - always good spectating, like Chohan. Also Woodward, a good pick in a shooting event, and Thorpe in a banking meet. Should be a good U.S. competition.

Will SVB and Sky be back to the states in time? It looks like both of them are playing in matchroom's new Championship League Pool event, and possible might see some other players on this list invited to that event as well

I keep thinking one hole only...with rotation in there, Bergman should do well...good list!

I’m out of loop somewhat on the Championship League? When and where is that going to take place? Sounds like a fair shout if they are not too far apart

It's a new Matchroom event this year, but they haven't released many details yet. I assume its modeled on the the Championship League Snooker, which is a kind of round robin event. It's supposed to be at Milton Keynes where most of the snooker tournaments have been since lockdown. I know SVB and Sky are the only Americans listed so far, but seems possible Bergman or Deuel may get invited too. There doing a slow reveal of players...

Hi Joe-
Do you have a daily schedule for the 3 events ? Trying to figure travel plans. Also, will Hampton offer reduced rate for the tourney?
Thanks
Nick

No, but
Big Truck thought it would take about two days per event, and we'll do the banks, then the one pocket, then the nine ball. As for lodging, Buffalo has a hotel that is offering a discount. I don't know but it'll be on the flyer.

What about the quarantine upon arrival?
Was wondering about that too...I assume they will all have to go over early. So far they have announced players from US, various Euro countries, and Oi from Japan. Says it'll only be 19 players. Guess they will all go early and be in a "bubble."

I think this is great, however, I feel with only 8 players it should be an invitational. That way you are sure to get the best players based on recent performance. The best solution obviously would be to have a bigger field. K
