Is the break an advantage is what I'm asking.
Look at this way , nonbreaker gets first swing at a offensive shot.
Wether there is a long enough rope out there to hang him depends on what the breaker left , and the shooters abillities.

Bank the object ball around the side pocket. Cue ball ends up on first diamond opposite it. Only risk is making the ball in the side and leaving a one rail bank.

Keeping the OB near or just short of the side pocket guards against a two railer to his hole and keeps the potential for a scratch foremost in your opponents mind. :)
