I hope our people support this tournament. Michael's is a good set up and we hope to develop this tournament into a showcase for one pocket. First thing we will do is get the added money up to $10,000 added. This will help get the best players to the tournament. We like the format as it gives us a David v. Goliath feel and beating a champ in a short race is a memory that every player would treasure. Double elimination may take too long. They may need to consider Derby's buy back format. We'll see how it goes.

I'll take Chip, Roberto, Hall, and Billy and give you the field as it is now. Don't want to watch Ray put Alex and Dennis in the last two spots.
Joe, how's this sound. Ill take Chip and Billy you can have Roberto and Hall for $50.00 Which ever player finishes higher wins the bet, they do not have to win the event. We can pay by PayPal or check. Let me know. I won't be around the rest of they Im off to the casino for a little Hold"em. Keith

I think they'll learn a lot from this first triple event. They could raise the entry fee to $150 for the 1P. $100 ain't much today.
That’s a lot of players for ten tables. I can envision that it will be a pain for the players waiting for matches

Yeah if they have a full 96 field, and only 10 tables for a 3/3 event, it's going to be a slosh...
On a positive note, they do run big tournaments pretty regular so they know how. Expanding it to 128 this time might be tough to pull off though. That place will be packed with people. Props to the TD, most likely who is Dee who runs the monthly. I know Cincy and Mark have played in some of the big ones there, maybe they can give us their opinions

I have only played in 2 of the Dee One Pocket tourneys and it will def be packed. I have never gone very deep into the field so I cant say how well they are ran but they seem to finish but I agree with this many players its going to be tough, especially without shot clocks. I wish I could go!

Joe since you didn't respond, another member sent me a pm taking the bet, the bet I offered to you is off. Hopefully we will have some action another time. Keith

Sorry, I've been out of pocket. I would have done it but Dennis is in now so the B team doesn't look quite as tempting any more. Doesn't mean he has to win in a 100 man field, but he's the favorite.

I also watched Fedor play this weekend. Don't worry, he only needs 6 months and he'll be a killer. Very high pool IQ. His straight pool knowledge is very evident in his shot selection. Won't take him long.

This is one event we are going to cultivate. As evidenced by the interest, it is a great location. We'll have to find a better weekend though. This is usually the Scotty Townsend weekend but they passed this year b/c of COVID limitations. I think we pump this up to a $200 entry, $10,000 added event, it could be a showcase. I have serious doubts they will be able to pull it off without playing 24 hours a day and killing everyone. I hear they have 12 tables. The math does not work for me, but I am sure they have a plan.

That would be awesome! I would play for sure and those who would play for $100 would play for $200 I believe, especially if they have to travel to get there.

If you remember, when it was first brought up to do a MoT at Michael's we took them out of the mix because it didn't have 18 table or whatever we were saying the minimum was at the time. IMO, if they pull a tourney off with 102 players, we should be able to do it with 32 :)

I still think another good idea (for any tourney) would be to do a shot clock. Have players use their phones for a timer. Even if they go over a second here or there, at least it keeps it more fast paced in general.

Including Jason Miller if he's been playing.
Back in the day, he played everything real good. I heard he really doesn't play much any more but would love to see him get back into it.

One of my highlights was back in the day we used to drive up to Dayton to go to Airway Billiards on Sundays (I think it was Sundays) to play in their weekly 9 ball tourney. It was one of the hardest tourneys to win because there were a lot of players, with some real good ones in there (Jason Miller, Joe Brown, Frank Ruby, Bucky Bell, Ricky Carrelli, Leil Gay, Gary Spaeth, Cornbread I think played in some too), but the main thing is that it was a race to 2 in 9 ball, so literally anyone could beat you! I usually would play, get knocked out and try to find some one hole action. Well one day, it was my day and I went thru the field and won it, beating some good players but I remember it was Joe Brown in the semis and then Jason Miller in the finals which I think was a race to 3 if I recall correctly. It was the only time I beat him and if the race was longer, I am sure it would have been different!
