I wanted to compile these banks and bring them forth so new members and other members can find these easily for reference.

thanks alot for organizing the banks into one thread/post and doing most of them
you might notice in the first attempt at the bank i suggested you try to beat the kiss (from freddie the beard"when there is a kiss" )
that the cue ball drifted forward just a hair where in the second attempt it did not

Larry, I now have added John Brumback's video, it is # 20. The video you are discussing is now 2nd from the bottom.
Yes, on my first attempt I now notice since you pointed it out that I let my cue ball go forward, and of course I got the kiss. The 2nd attempt, no kiss, for I got the cue ball to go straight in and out.
Thanks for that input, I had not notice as to why I got the kiss on the first attempt.

I think my twist post may now be complete, as I now added JB. I research Bugs video but I did not see a twist bank in it, but I have a similar shot of his # 17. I wanted to include the famous bankers doing twist banks if I could.
I have to get it done before it goes to report. I sure wish I had Bugs doing a twist bank, and a video of Freddie doing a twist bank!

PS. I just added Freddie the Beard #21, 22. 23, 24, and Bugs on 25.

Larry, The 'Piquet' bank is actually made by 'Curving the CB' into the OB at a 'different starting angle!' Coming as close as one can, Not hitting the OB on the wrong side. The Extreme English transfer to the OB causes it to take off the 1st cushion.

Damn, he has perfect mechanics, doesn't he?
Yes he has!
By JB's own admission, his stroke is for a single purpose, and that is to pocket the ball. Top #1 priority, as he has stated, " I play to make the ball and not shape". I am sure he can if he wants to, or the occasion or type of bank game arises where it is necessary to play shape.
He is the prototype to gear your bank game after to play and win at DCC in a short race to 3.
JB strokes it with a center ball or stays within 1/2 tip of natural english, usually. He uses the speed of the stroke to do everything else.

His stroke is not much unlike Taylor's, except Taylor hits it harder. But they mostly use the same stroke on each bank, and at the same speed on each bank. Taylor exemplifies in his video on the importance of using the same speed on each bank. Consistency in their stroke, mechanics, are a staple.

Good observation, his mechanics are next to none!
thanks, Whitey

I broke down JB's straight-back twist bank in a video editing program.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble but, He aims at 1/2 tip of RHE but actually, 'Swipes across the face of the CB to the right.' His tip winds up, 'High and to the right!' Almost sounds like the, 'Magic Bullet' theory.

I notice that when I posted up his video. Grady states in his twist bank that what you put on the cb is transferred to ob but the action is opposite on the ob. But how JB stroked his twist bank is puzzling as to why he uses that stroke, I have to guess that is the way he best makes the bank.Certainly out of character as to how he strokes other banks. Out of these twist banks by the other champion bankers they do not use this stroke.

I have used a similar stroke on certain banks that the cb has to travel quit a ways. I use to help get an accurate hit. Here are the two banks that I recall using a similar stroke.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/BtVDRTKxKGAbrSdG7 - this is from a wwyd, and is Frank the Barber's bank he would do. I released the stroke on this bank to enable me to hit the target. But it is a tremendous call by Frank for as you can see the cb stay above the head string.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/qHdapMkUp5BKJAN67 - this I call the Worlds Hardest Bank, for I believe it is. I probably shot this 400 times, and made it like 5 times but never caught it on video. That is why I am so excited to finally capture it.
But everything has to come together perfectly to make this bank on faster reacting rails that are not inclined to readily reverse. As you notice I release the stroke on this bank, and that for me to get the cb to hit the target.
But this is a Taylor bank that he made famous, except I set it up harder with both the cb and ob frozen to the rails.
I mainly put up this video because this is probably the only time members will ever see this bank.

thanks for the observation on JB stroke!
Oh, I did find a twist bank of Bugs #25 and got it posted. I know you'll like this being included among the other bank greats, as rightfully so.

I was playing $5 one pocket earlier today. I was faced with this shot needing 3 balls to his 1.

I looked at this shot and started thinking about this thread, smiled and made the twist back bank, made the next bank (the ball you can see), slid to the other long rail to get almost straight in on my out shot. It was glorious.

By the way, I missed the straight in but ended up winning that game anyway. 🤣😂

Ah, you did not want to make the straight in, it would have killed your action. 😊
Great twister!

It was the perfect conditions: balls were dirty and the cloth was changed about a month earlier with 860. What you see in the picture is a reenactment on my table. Much harder with new cloth, new balls.
Excellent point!
I was going to note that for the less experience bankers. If the balls have been cleaned then twist banks just do not take, so give it some playing time.
thanks, Whitey
