There is a book about 'Titanic' called Unsinkable Titanic Thompson by Carlton Stowers which is very entertaining.  Like his friend, Hubert 'Daddy Warbucks' Cokes, 'Titanic' was said to have made alot of money accepting oil leases instead of cash in payment for gambling debts.
