18 Players got together at the classic old style Southaven Recreation poolroom for our 5th MOT tournament at that room. It’s always a good time there, with current host owners Andy & Nicole Warren following the footsteps of prior owner Bill Rowsey, in this friendly poolroom just south of Memphis.
The weekend kicked off Thursday with a $50 entry One Ball One Pocket “mini” tournament. 12 Players, double elimination, races to 3 both sides, single race to 4 finals — same format as our MOT. Top three places paid 350, 200, 50, and were claimed by:
1st Andy Warren
2nd Johnny Willis
3rd Jason Moran
It turns out Andy Warren plays pretty sporty on his home tables, as he not only win the “mini”, he won the main event as well, following up on his win last year at this location!
Chicago’s John Rawski took 2nd, followed by Robert Newkirk 3rd. Andy prevailed in the finals 4-2, but many of the tournament matches went hill-hill, with a lot of One Pocket twists and turns along the way, and often just a little kiss or pocket point causing a misdirection that ultimately turned the match.
