What is the value off being the greatest. One Pocket player in the world.

And no what you are doing. What players play the game off one pocket correctly. And Why?

And pick your player. And tell me Why you think he is the greatest player.

Or is everyone just picking and gussing.

Who realy knowes howe too play the game. And can explain what makes it correct.

Could you pick out one off thier taps and show what they do too make it correct.

Or is it all just touch feel repatition and instincte. Why did Eferine beat Chriss.

And what could Chriss have done different too win?

The worth

The worth

I really don't know the answer, because I'm not the best. Maybe they'll ask Efren after he wins his NEXT tournament what it's worth. No matter what anyone thinks and I know he's going downhill, maybe, but when he's playing full speed it doesnt matter how his opponent plays. Just pay the man... He's lucky.....

The best I have ever seen is Efren.

Is he the best ever? I dont know, but IMO he is the most creative, best cueball control.

Often Ronnie Allen is quoted at the best ever, but I dont know I never seen him in best form.

Whats it worth? Well for Efren, and the number of titles, Master of the Table, etc, its worth some.

If your desire is to be wealthy, playing pool isnt the way to get there.

THats a very good reply. And you made a great statement. You are not going too get wealthy from it. Its amazing that you said that.

Because thats the exact reason I quite pool. I didnt want too win thousands I wanted too win millions . And it was not in pool.

Artie, I have had the opportunity to not only watch Reyes play in his prime but also the pleasure of playing him many, many times. Reyes in my opinion is the best pool player that I have ever watched play any game on a pool table. Straight pool is the only game that he may not have been the best at, but that's because he didn't play enough of it. Reyes in his prime had the best cue ball that I have ever seen, and his ball pocketing ability was second to none. His ability to kick was above all players, and he was as savvy as a player that there ever was.

Let me share this story with all of you.

The year was around 1985, i'm real bad with remembering exact years of the past, but it was around 1985. There was a tournament at the Resorts Casino in Atlantic City and I was sitting in the practice room in front of one of the 4 tables in the room. Keep in mind there were 4 tables in the room and I was sitting in front of one of them. There was no one else in the room but me. Reyes walked into the room and did not acknowledge me. Also we had been playing one pocket and 9 ball regularly in Chicago before the event. We were really good friends but gambled against one another and had a respect built off of competing against one another. But in spite of that he didn't acknowledge me. He jointed his cue and threw a rack of 15 balls on the table, all the balls were positioned on the foot end of the table, not one ball was past the side pockets. There were many clusters because of the small area only below the side pockets. He than positioned cue ball in hand and ran all 15 balls without missing. It was a thing of beauty. He would play position by caroming off of balls, it was totally awesome. He not only did that with that rack, he proceeded to do that with four consecutive racks of balls. I couldn't believe what I was watching. After running out four consecutive racks he put the balls back into the tray, unjointed his cue and put it in his case and walked out of the practice room without ever looking at me or saying one word to me. Keep in mind I was sitting directly in front of his table, not more than 8 ft from the table.

I guess he was sending me a message for our future endeavors.

Like I mentioned earlier that playing one pocket is a game where there are at times several options available, and then there are times when you need to use your imagination to figure out the correct shot. And the correct shot for one person may not be the correct shot for another. Well bottom line is the correct shot for Reyes was correct enough to build a string of tournament wins that probably never again will be duplicated.

Today Reyes imo is playing at least a ball under is top speed, but that's still good enough for him to win one pocket tournaments. Say what you want, but say it with respect. Reyes imo is at least a ball over any player I have ever watched play one pocket.

Oh by the way I forgot to mention that he ran the 4 racks playing rotation. The 1 ball to the 15 ball, in rotation.

I respect Eferine as a player. And as nice as any player ever was too play with. He is all class.

And a perfect gentelman.

Now We will breack down the games and facts. And I have been away for a lot off years .

But I see what is going on. The times have past me buy.

Eferine is a great player . Has great cueball control. Great shooting ability. He is without a dought one off the greatest gifted players in life.

Will someone pass him up. I would say yes. Not today and not in my generation.

Eferine playes great nine ball. But THier are 4 or 5 nine ball players in the same clas.

Especialy because off his breack.

Straight pool thier are 20 or more straight pool players that play or played better then Eferine.

And Ifs dont count because everyone could use them.

In three coushion Billiards at least 30 or more players played better.

Bank pool. I would say that thier are at least 6 or more bank pool players over him. playing bank pool.

Snooker we no thier are a lot off players that played better then him.

Eight ball I would pick 4 or 5 players over him. And Appelton playes better eight ball.

And without a dought knowes the game better. I would say he is the best eight ball player wright nowe today.

One pocket. I dont no what he would have done with taylor Ronnie or Bugs. All 4 off them could have won.

Thier is no way to make a fair decision. The main reason they never played.

Were all these players played each other in thier prime.

And yes Eferine won more one pocket tournements. Then any off those players.

But he als played in way way more tournemets then any off these older players. They didnt have tournements like today.

Players today play way more practice way mopre. And play all the time. They stay in stroke.

That was not the case back then. And they only had a hanfull off tournements.

So it is understandable that he would win more tournements.

And Boston shorty won more tournements in one pocket back then too. Because he played in most off them.

But all the top players played a ball better then shorty.

And you cannot compair players today with players back 40 years ago. Everything is different.

The tables the balls the rules. Just like in 3 coushion.

The players today think they could have avareged about the same on the old tables as the tables today.

Witch is totaly not true. And some people say its because they play position today.

Witch too me is a joke. What do they think Hoppie and Worst and cockren did.

THese players were genusis.

And If the great players today would have played them back in thier time and equipment it would have been a different game.

And we will never know. One person will take the old players. Another player will take todays players.

What would have happened too all those great avarages. If the tables would have been way slower inetead off faster.

What would thier avarafe have been then. Or if the would have used mud pool balls. That wouldnt have broken up as easy.

With a cueball that would be hard to draw.. And slowere tables.

Everything changes. According too the equipment.

And Like I said beffore. Eferine practicet Masy shots and Balkline and straight rail.

Were in American you couldnt learn too shoot macy shots.

And learn howe too shoot them and learn them from a player. Who new howe too shot them.

Sure it always looks great when nobody knowes howe too do something that ony one person does. And learned.

Eferine is one off the greatest control shooters that ever played. He is without a dought in the top 5 in that department.

But as far as all those other games go. He is great but not the best.

And Eferine does not win playing one pocket. By out smarting his oponent.

He wins because he execuites better. And people play below thier speed when they play him.

THey do not play thier solid game like they play against other players. Thier game goes down against Eferine. Because off who he is.

Eferine playes a lot off games great. But he is not the best in those games.

And the games he shines in. Is nine ball Rotation. One pocket. Shooting games are his strength.

Ability and talant wise he belongs in the top 3. AS far as knowledge goes. He is good. But I do not put him on the top.

And cueball control. He would be my ist choice. But thier are some very great players who control the cueba..

And again it depends on the game.. Because Willie Mosconie and GreenLeaf are in that class without a doght.

And all around I think Will would have had the edge over Eferine. He would have been my pick over EFerine.

And Harold Worst Definatly was number one in all aroud. Pool Three Coushion and snooker.

And I dont like too single out any one player. Because thier are so meny great players. That are wright thier.

And a player like Alex could pass him up. In the pool world. And thier will come another great player.

And hwo knowes howe great a player will be 500 years from nowe.

Eferine wins a lot off tournemts. Were he geys things too happen for him too win. And Eferine is a great player. And a winner.

There's only one way to determine it: Take a very large bag to the bank & walk up to the tellers window. Tell the nice lady that you are the "Greatest One-Pocket Player In The World". Then open up the bag and allow her to deposit cash into the bag. Then leave and go back to your car (if you own one) and count up the money in the bag. That's how to find out what it's worth and that's about the only way.

Artie, could you please tell me what your definition of the "best" is? In other words, the "best" according to whom and to what standards?

I'm sorry but there is no human past or present who plays better 8-ball than efren. He once said that when he's playing good, NOBODY will win playing 8-ball... I take that statement very serious from someone as humble and soft spoken as efren. I know he hated that the IPT didn't proceed, because he was absolutely stealing that money (what he got paid anyways). I also wonder why everytime they have a new tournament of any kind that has a huge payout, why efren nearly always leaves with the money??? I guess he's just lucky...

To be honest. I do not think anyone can say who is the best. Just like in all the other sports you cannot pick out one player.

Because he is our choice or we think he is the best.

THe best is a combination off doing everything great. Shooting Banking playing with no mistakes.

And by howe the play against the greatest players.

Witch will never happen. And cannot be provem. Its onlt a opinion. Like betting on a sporting event.

Somebody always wins and somebody always loosee.

Too say someone is the best they have too prove it. And that cannot be done.

If Eferine would have played the great players when one pocket was at its best.

When Taylor Rags Bugs Ronnie Kelly Jersey Red Cornbread red. Cannonball Young Blood Clem. If he would have beat these players in thier prime witch he did not.

THen at least you would have a case. But he didnt play any off these players in thier prime.

Take a good look at who he beat and who was in that field. Not too much. And Even hokines was going down hill.

Who did he realy beat? Scott and Gab were just learning.

The only player was clif and maybe Shannon. Thier realy areant even ten solid players that played in the league with the players back then.

Very weak field that Eferine one at.

Just a handfull off players. And back then you had Shorty Mike Carillo Even Blackie Baby face Marvine henderson. Detroite whity Grady Squarale. I mean I can go on forever.

Todays field is very short. And I didnt even mention Whimpy DAnt Dwelaberto Billy Incardone Canadian Pete. Ronberg Louie Roberts. THey just had way more good one pocket players.

To say that one player is or was the best. Is just a opinion.

Thier is no such person. And I watched Eferine play Eight Ball and he has a lot too learn.

Like I said Appalton Is one off the few players that realy plays the game.

And Eferines great exicoution gets him out off a lot off trouble. And people cannot compete against his great ability. And great control.

Nobody realy is in his clas today playing one pocket. Excepte a few players. Like Scott Alex Jeramie Jones. And thats about it. Corry will get thier and Chriss may get thier.

But thats about all that I see. A very small field off great players. And Cliff and Gab are not playing thier game.

Thats it.

In nine ball and ten ball its a different story. You have about 10 or 15 solid players.

Even Bank pool the field off great players is short.

And Straight pool is not what it use too be. With Mizrack Siagle. Hopkins Rimpie Pete Morgo. Kelly Danny Whimpy Ceane Mosconie Carras Bassals Worst Jersey red and meny more.

And THe eight ball field is not too much either. And Back then thier were not too meny great eight ball players. EXcepte on the bar.

And the only player I lost too playing eight ball was Cannala. And I couldnt get no eight ball action.

And I have never seen anyone in the USA playeight ball correctly.

Appelton playes the game correct. And Thier was another player who played the game correct. In the IPT From Canada or England. He was from one off those countrys.

And I dhowed Larry the player. I told him too watch him because he knowes and plays the game correct.

It is hard to discuss the game off Eight ball and one pocket. With people who dont play the game the correct way. And they never learned.

They played great and they no the shots and moves. And Bank good and shoot good.

And even play safe good. But they realy dont no the game. Eight ball or one pocket.

Erale could be the best if he learns. Because he banks great. And shoots great. And he has the tools too be the best today.

IF he learnes the game. And who knowes if he even wants too learn. Appalton. I would say Is a great all around player.

And if Eferine played him. Straight pool Eight ball nine ball and onepocket. And ten ball. I would take applelton.

Because he is a better player. Eferine might still win because off his ability and talent.

But I dont think so. Applelton playes all games great and the correct way.

And I dont no howe he plays snooker. But he probable plays that great too.

And I like Eferines Attitude and personality better then Applelton.

And I give Eferine the edge as having more Heart. And Eferine today is the greatest player under pressure.

He showes up and performs when he has too do something too win.

No matter what Eferine is a great champion. And he is in the Top 5 greatest players off all times.

And I like everything he does. He is the man that people want too see play.

And he gives the audeance what they came for. I belive with more knowledge Eferine could have been the greatest. But I dont think he reachet that levele. In knwledge.

The last 15 or 20 years. Yes I would say that Eferine was the best.

I cannot see anything too change that. Today its a little different.

Because he is not going up and these other players are. And thats what usualy happines. THe old get replacet. By the young.

But he has had a great run. And he will go down as one off the greatest.

And one last note. I would also have too say that Eferine played more pool then any other player in life.

Thier are a few youger players that may end up playing more. Then Eferine.

But nobody played as much pool as Eferine not even Half as much. And weay=ther you belive it or not. Eferine played since he was a little bot tell no .

And never quite playing. And that also makes a big difference. Because you stay in stroke.

The players today play 3 or 4 times as much as players back then use too play.

And they are always playing compation too and that helps too improve yout game.

I think the players today should play even better then they play. Because off all the matches and games they play.

Its a different time and pool has changed. And nothing better to help your game and learn then tooplay every day.

Against compatition. I gave you the facts and howe much more they play today then they use too play.

And I cannot pickout one player and say he was the best. And be fair too the other great player.

And every game a different player playes that game better then another player.

And the old records will be brocken. Because thats what records are made for.

Who knowes what the future holds for the up and comeing players. WE had out time and I am tankfull for having the chance too play.

And I cannot pickout one player and say he was the best. And be fair too the other great player.

And the old records will be brocken. Because thats what records are made for.

.
The best is who we pick and choose. It can never be proven in court.

And the best a lot off times is not the best.

But nobody can say. Because it was never played or proven. And will never be proven.

JUst like who is the smardest. That can be proven. By what a person knowes. But all the old timers can not do that anymore. And what they new is in the history books.

And we can not dig it up. WE can say who won the most tournements. And howe meny. In all pool games. If thier are records.

Howe do you compair a player who never played in tournements. Howe great he was if he never played in one tournement.

And who is the smardset. If people havant herd off him. Howe would they make him the best?

Since we are talking about the best. Howe good are the best. I know they game off one pocket. They way they game should be played.

And howe too think. This is a weakness off all the great players. Because they think they no howe too play. Do they realy know howe too play.

And what do they know and do that makes them think they no howe too play?

Is it by the standards off compairing themselves with other players. Or because they execuite better then the other players.

WE learn as we go along and add the peaces too what we know.

I tought my self howe too play. And I learned what I no through practice. And wanting too learn all the things I need too learn. Too play better and so I could win the money. Easier.

WE learn by watching what other players and people do. And he memorize and record what we see. Then we use it and practice and learn it.

Tell we can do it too. And we have seen semilar shots being played over and over. And once we learn the concepte off the game.

WE come up with our owne Ideas and thoughts.

THier is no stronger learning or teaching off the game off ONE POCKET.

The most important thing too learn is HOWE TO THINK. ITs a must. Without it its hard too be great.

Thinking is not only the key too one pocket. Its the key too life. And without it we are just going through the motions.

If you learn too think. You will start answering your own qouistions by thinking them out.

And you can even come up with a better answer.

I no so much about one pocket I could fill up a hundred books. It would be endless.
.
If you ask me do I no everything about one pocket.

MY answer would be. I only no a little percentage off the game off one pocket.

Thier is at least 80% more about the game that I could learn.

And its down through the thinking prasses.. WE havant even touchet what thier is to learn about the game.

And everybody thinks they no. I no howe the game should be played. And what we need too no and learn.

Nobody knowes howe too realy play the game. WE go by great shooting and running balls. And we compaier ourselfs too thee other players.

Compaire youself too the game. And ask youreself what Do I no sbout the game?

And howe do you realy play the game. And make a list off all the things you no and need to learn.

Go deeper into the game. Dont just think you know the game and howe too play.

Because you beat all the best players.

Compaire yourself too the game. Not too the players. Like everyone does.

IF every person wrote down what they no about the game. Basicly they would all come up with about the same thing.

Because thats all they no and do too play. One match in the tournement. I could come up with. Thousands ioff qouistions and things that a person needs too learn.

And If you could Qouistion a person . Why they shot a certain shot. And what they did. They wouldnt no. And they can learn so much from one match.

And all the things he would learn. You could learn and think forever. And you will never learn it all. Because thier is always something different and new.

And you can improve what you already no . By doing it a different and a better way. You have too do all off this . To learn and change everything you do too do it better and stronger.

And more accurate. People look at taps . Are the aware off what they are looking at. Or do they just look. And then not learn from it. Or think about all the things they can learn from every shot move position. Howe too run the balls.

.

Learn the real meaning behind the game and all the things too do. Too bring youre thinking too a higher levele.

Be a student figure out what you did too win or loose.. Do the players no why they won or lost?

THink about what you could have done different too win. Once the match is over. Is that it you won or lost.

game.

Get the correct amswers too all youre quistions. And correct youre mistakes so you dont make them again.

My last answer too youre Qouistuion. Who is the best. WE havant seen them yet.

.

Next time you play or watch a game. Be aware off every shot. And think about everything thats going on.

And ask yourself WHY are they shooting that shot. And record all the things you learn. Dont just site thier and look.

After the match ask youself what you learned. If nothing then ask youself why you didnt learn anything.?

.

Dont just think after you get in trouble. But before you get it trouble.

And Clare I think youre the best. ABMEDDLER
