Today I was talking with a friend about the story of Vernon Litten and others around the pool scene in Texas. My friend had spent a good deal of time in Texas playing pool and knows Vernon well. He told me a funny story about Vernon playing pool with a college football player whom he won some money from. The football player had three teamates with him who were big linemen and they were going to take the money back from Vernon. Well, since there were four of them Vernon made the sensible decision and ran out the door with the four guys after him. After several minutes into the chase Vernon looked back and could see that one by one the chasers were tiring out until only the person Vernon was playing, a running back, was left in the chase. That's when Vernon stopped and let the guy catch him and then "punished" him severely. Was told as a true story.
