And what a fantastic match. I drove up earlier today to watch Efren and Shane this afternoon, and obviously ended up staying the entire day. I even got to hang out and shoot a few games of One Pocket with Fanatic. She is very cool.

alot of statistics from the event
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=428192

Some really neat stats there -- like how often the breaker won (about 60%)
■ Games won by breaker in round-robin play

Reyes -- 8 of 12 (67%)
Van Boening -- 10 of 12 (83%)
Jones -- 8 of 13 (62%)
Chohan -- 9 of 14 (64%)
Smith -- 5 of 13 (38%)
Pagulayan -- 7 of 13 (54%)
Total -- 47 of 77 (61%)

I also found it interesting to see how many balls were run for their final winning innings -- look at this fire-power!! It looks like the average wrap up run out was close to 5 balls!
■ Distribution of run-outs to win the 84 games:

1 ball -- 26
2 balls -- 8
3 balls -- 7
4 balls -- 5
5 balls -- 6
6 balls -- 6
7 balls -- 8
8 balls -- 14
9 balls -- 4

The total number of balls pocketed on those 84 final innings was 353. So the arithmetic mean (average) was 4.2.

With 41 "outs" of 3 or below and 44 "outs" of 4 or more, we have a median (the one in the middle) of 4.

I was there live as well and I thoroughly enjoyed the pool playing. Efren and Shane's match in the afternoon was fantastic -- and take what you like and leave the rest -- but when he's in stroke, Efren still makes a very tough argument for being the best player in the world. The finals, that night was even more climactic with Shane mounting a super-impressive comeback.

I enjoyed the entire event and it was nice seeing some friends and familiar faces.
