I think the angle is a bit too much to make this option a viable one. I recall making it at DCC 2019, but I only took the shot because I knew I'd win the game if I made it.

Awesome shot and perfect speed, but beside the angle it's much easier when the ball is in the middle of the table with full access to the whole QB. That was not the case with Larry's shot. But loved how you hit it!

https://photos.app.goo.gl/6wincCytACELqJzm8 the outcome of this shot I believe is similar to what Dr. Bill depicted.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/z3KPUqV4eTXwpSxG7 similar to Larry's shot?
https://photos.app.goo.gl/Gbck6unAYMZs1azUA this is my safety, as far as I know anyway.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/cm9WAbmUChb4AxR26 I had to do this shot from out of the pocket, as Vapros pointed out!

maybe this will be helpful for you Larry!

whitey your shot #2 is similar how my shot ended up
i wanted to hit the object ball alittle thinner so the cue ball ended more to the foot rail
but i left him the cut shot
no hanger but he made it

Larry, I thought that would be pretty close.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/1xC4YdEBdwjT6aqe6 this represents the norm for controlling the cb in keeping it above the side pockets.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/mxmpwbeSeEo44VqW7 I wanted to revisit this shot to better represent the importance of getting the ob in front of the hole.

I can't demonstrate but using a high CB and a full hit you can stall the CB and kiss the OB towards your pocket.
androd,
I worked a few minutes on your shot. I have got a little heavy kiss and the ob goes 1 diamond long rail by our corner pocket, and what appears a subtle kiss and the ob goes 1 diamond short rail by corner pocket. Cb does stall.
It takes a lifer OP player to know this shot and how to hit it. I almost did not notice your post, but glad I did. This would be hard to catch on video, but we'll see. thanks, Whitey
https://photos.app.goo.gl/VRrJVQYNeNuU2BJFA I played with it a few more minutes, and yes it happened and this is the result. Great shot, the cb reaction is off the charts for what you would want! thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. I feel a video coming, but probably next week. I wish I would of had the video rolling to capture this beautiful shot! Whitey

Larry,

I took this shot to the table. I thought there was a wider angle on the object ball than once I set it up, which changes things. And, with the QB being so close to the rail just above the corner pocket I tried to stay away from using right hand spin. So here were my shot attempts, some suggested in this thread and a couple I thought were worth a look (I assumed the object ball was not frozen):
...
Anyway, just screwing around where you can see 1st try of all my options. (I hope I had it set up correctly).
Dave
Nice demonstration, Dave! That's why no one wants to play you. You're too good!..

Androd, I decided and go for it and video tape it since I was hot.
thanks again, what a great shot! Whitey

Ps. a little hint in helping to zero in on this shot and that is to have a starting aim point. I use the left side of the cue shaft to line up on the inside left edge of the ob, adjust from there. It is a shot that has to be hit precisely.

Perhaps the nicest part about the shot is that your opponent is going to think you hit it much too full and got a lucky kiss. Here is the shot in Virtual Pool:
CropperCapture[49].jpg
This shows the ball curving to the long cushion, presumably due to the transferred draw/follow.

The shot is a little touchy (requires precise aim) but it's fairly easy to leave the OB within a diamond of your pocket. There is some danger of a scratch, which nearly happened to Whitey on his real table.

You hit that one really well bob
especially with your opponent throwing the end of his shaft on the table....

Nice shot Rod/Whitey. Did you have the object ball frozen to the rail?

Whitey/Rod you both motivated me to try the double kiss shot that Rod described. But it's funny, when I first read Rod's post I envisioned a double kiss one rail as you, Whitey, envisioned the 2 railer. Here's an attempt at both (the object ball is a little bit off the rail, not frozen):

The Double-kiss 1 Railer (scratches don't count in exhibition LOL):

The Double-kiss 2 Railer (my one attempt):

Rod, what was the shot you were describing, 1-rail or 2?????

Thanks for the shot!

Just when you think you’ve laid down a good safe, Rodney’s knowledge crushes you! Good one old man! Are you still making the trek to SA and playing everyday? Hope you’re feeling well...👍
