One Pocket Hall of Fame champion Ronnie Allen was born July 12, 1938. He won his first major tournament -- a One Pocket event -- at Cochran's in January, 1962 at the age of 23. He was also the all-around champion at one of the Stardust or Johnston City events -- I'll have to look up which one though. I believe he won the playoff by winning the nineball, then losing the One Pocket to a straight pool player (again, I'll have to look it up), suddenly going from big favorite to big underdog, but then he proceeded to pull out a win in the straight pool for the title!

Happy birthday to the greatest one-pocket player of all time! Since RA lives there, I imagine the lights in Las Vegas should be a little brighter today!
