These banks are common everyday double banks. When my table's cushions were more responsive these banks were ever bit as easy as a single bank, for coming off the 2nd rail the bank would not take reverse and therefore once you hit the angle the ob stayed the course. Today, now that my rails are softer (form not being used for a few to many decades) they now take some reverse which makes these banks much harder.
Speed is now also a factor, the harder you hit the double banks the more they seem to reverse off the 2nd rail, before when the rails were more responsive that would of never happened, they still ran true.

I of course watch the bank matches from DCC and very seldom do you ever see a double bank attempted or made. Double banks are important in bank pool for two reasons; 1. to hold shape better for the next bank, for it holds the cb better than a single bank. 2. at times they allow a bank that also carries a safety. Double banks are great/fun banks!
Enjoy, Whitey

I added this video of a double cross over OP bank. The 1 is off the 1/2 diamond. I am using english that will bring me back onto the 7 ball. Notice how the ob runs true and does not reverse coming off the 2nd rail. I general always use outside english when doing cross over banks, it seems to not override the natural english the cb puts onto the ob.

I added yet another video.
This might not seem like much of a bank, but I think you'll find that it is not that easy to do, because of how the ob reacts coming off the rails.
I hope others add some double bank videos to this thread. thanks, Whitey

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Qaaux33v6k @ 23:59 Shane does a magnificent double cross side bank! On this bank; Shane is using low left but I believe it does not over ride the rail putting on clockwise spin on the ob, but it does put the brakes on the ob and gets the ob to come more straighter across the side, and then the rail spin reverts to natural spin and throws the ob back across side into the hole. This is my opinion. There is a lot of physics going on in this bank, and using what these rails can offer!
Throughout this match there are a few excellent banks, especially by Shane. Also this match represents a good variety of banks, and the US Open Championship! Whitey

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qD0dT4vvd4E This video is of Luther Lassiter vs. Boston Shorty from Johnston City. Lassiter does a couple nice banks to get the win! The banks start @ 8:00. Enjoy!

https://photos.app.goo.gl/5mgPGpzS4hrQRnM18 A very demanding Z bank. The ob is on 2-1/4 diamonds and the cb is on the first diamond. The extreme left english is necessary to kill the cb as it doubles out of the corner. Enjoy, Whitey

I think double banks come up more in full rack banks... this is why you don't see many at DCC because they play short rack. There is less clutter on a 9 ball rack and it is easier to find either one rail or multi-rail(non double) banks. Nice videos whitey... I wish I lived near you so we could play some.

Cool -- great presentation as always Dennis! I use those Z-banks in One Pocket sometimes to hold the cue ball -- playing it 2 rails instead of the cut shot because with the cut the cue ball is getting turned loose.

The club that I usually play at has two GC's but they have Klematch cushions, that only slightly shorten up -- much like your table Whitey. But now there are three other clubs that have put in Diamonds in the last few years. What a difference!! The Diamonds range from red label drop pocket, to blue label with ball returns. Whole different ball game on banks that go or don't go with the Klematch cushions vs any of the Diamonds!

Whitey, Howdy;

Just viewed the add-ons. Neat stuff! I've seen the "Whimpy" video several
times before but not truly paid attention to the Bank shots. Always chuckle
when I see him haul out that huge file to redress his tip. Always thought it
was a bit oversized for the job. Must be for intimidation purposes or his toe nails. :rolleyes:
