You may now book your room accommodations online for the 2011 Derby City Classic. Bookings via telephone will be announced at a future date.

There are two types of room reservations offered at Horseshoe Southern Indiana:

 Every room reservation requires a charge of the first night's deposit at time of reservation.
 This deposit is taken at the time of booking and is nonrefundable. No exceptions will be made.
 A maximum of four people are allowed to stay in each room. Rollaway beds are not available.
 If the discounted 9-day package is booked and any one of the nine nights is canceled, all room discounts will be revoked. Prices for all nights booked will revert to the full individual date prices.

Tom,

Thanks for the heads up!

I was able to take advantage of a really low airline ticket price of less than $260.00 out the door from Phoenix. That also includes no additional cost for 2 bags.

And......just in case the average poolplayer decides to not procrastinate this year:rolleyes: .......I also booked my DCC reservation.

Less than 3 months and counting...... yeah baby:D .

Thanks again.

Bernie.

Use your Harrah's card

Use your Harrah's card

Also, an inside tip -- if you have a Harrah's card -- from ANY Harrah's owned joint -- you should first check on what kind of special rate (based on your gambling history :) ) you might get by using that to book your room. It is definitely worth a try if you are any kind of Harrah's regular (any of their joints).

One word of caution -- don't book using someone else's Harrah's card unless they are truly going to be there at DCC themselves because the card holder MUST be the one to check in when you actually get there.

$%#&#@*&! Harrah's reservation system !!!

$%#&#@*&! Harrah's reservation system !!!

I allready have my flight res. made (arr. Louisville Sat 1/22---Dep.Wed. 1/26) Caught the same cheapo Bernie did, via Southwest.
Harrah's seems to have a very weak res. system. I had the same problem last time I went....They do not recognize the code, and they say on-line they have no rooms for those dates. (when in fact they did by phone last time)

If anyone has reservations for those 5 nights, and wants a roomie, I will pay up to $75 per night (should be more than 1/2 the rate)...for those 5 nights.
I don't sleep much, and I don't snore...also, I have been known to sleep on the floor... PM me with info

If not, does anyone have any info on the motel 15 miles away?

Coupla things/info re. the DCC...especially for those that haven't been before, or only once...

Imo, unless you're a 9ball player/fan (and if you are, you shouldn't be here reading this ), of the 9 days of the tournament, the first 6 are the best days to be there....#1. Because you will see the Banks and the One Pocket divisions of the DCC, and #2. Because it's less crowded then, particularly the first 2-3 days - if you want to get on a tournament table to gamble, or get on one of the tables in the private az/onepocket.org room, it's much easier the first few days...

The rooms at the tournament venue casino are $120 wkday $140 wkend a night.....that said...here's some good info for any of you that are driving in, and are on a budget...8 miles away are a Holiday Inn and a Hampton Inn for about $95 a night....but about 10-12 miles/15-20 minutes away from the casino, on a real pretty country highway, there's a Motel 6 - it's only $50 a night...not too many people know that it's there, but those that do jump on it - it may be already booked, so if you're interested you should make a reservation now....a friend of mine stayed there last year during the tournament, and he said it was fine - clean, quiet, etc....here's the name and contact info >>>

Motel 6 - Georgetown #4097
1079 North Luther Road
I-64 at SR 64, Exit #118
Georgetown, IN, 47122
Phone: (812) 923-0441

I found it in Calired's post (in which he also praised the Horseshoe Res system)...after I posted, and reserved a room there...Thanks. However I'd still rather stay at the venue. By the time I rent a car, it'll be about the same $$$. But at least the parking lot is a hell of a lot closer to the tournament area than the rooms are...

PS..That better be a REAL pretty country road..With NO ICE on it.

You're right about those points, Dick. Actually the ride from town to the venue is right along the river, and usually has very little traffic. But of course it's a roll of the dice whether there will be snow or ice.

The walk from the hotel to the venue is LONG. Two years ago I stayed on the 4th floor at the far south end of the hotel. So I had to plan ahead when I'd be coming and going. Casual trips to the room were out of the question. You're right. The parking lot is much closer to the pool area.

But all these things will be taken in stride, just so we can spend a few days with other sick, degenerate pool players.:D

They have a scooter that carries 5 people that comes and goes near the bottom of the elevators and you might have to wait a few minutes but it runs back and forth to the action. They also rent scooters but it may be a little pricey.

They also have two people movers (Flat escalators) that cover about 1/2 the distance.

My room dilema has been resolved, thanks to CaliRed. (He is in negotiations to try for two beds) He must be a big go-off at his local Harrahs. You would not believe the room rate he got. He is saving me almost enough to cover my wager with the Ghost (should I accidently lose)...:p

I have offered to play him a one pocket race to 2 every day, to see who gets the bed, if its a single...I'm sure I need weight, but will play even...However Greg, remember the signals...(napkin tied on the doorknob) in case one of us lands a "lady of the evening"...

I WILL be renting a scooter. Last time they had a cart that carried 4 people, and there were always about 15 or 20, waiting for a ride...

hehe... It just took a couple of wins, lots of booze and a wife that wouldn't leave, to dump everything back in the place and rack up some points. I'm a little pissed they only gave me 40.00 off a few nights. I'm working my negotiating magic with my host and trying to get her to call their host and give me some free meals (every bit helps) I'm sure they look at my play and say who is this guy asking for free stuff when he's a peon. Doesn't stop me though, I'll fight for extra towels:D

Any "ladies" coming in are going to have to submit to a package test. I don't need anyone flipping out when they find out what they thought was behind door No. 1, was not what they thought:confused:

Thanks to Dick, my entire day 1 is shot, I'll be sitting in airports for 3+ hours on layovers (hehe.. just busting your chops, I appreciate it:))

What happens on the first day (Friday) cuz I don't get in till 10 or 11 at night?

Greg......Please don't be nervous or upset, and take it as a compliment, if after taking his late-night shower, Papie emerges from the bathroom in his lavender silk pajamas and offers you a back rub...  :p :D :p

Dick, have you or Greg inquired re the scooter rates? It seems to me that last time they were $20 per day, but that you could only have them from morning to mid-evening. Don't know for sure if that's the case. If you have a scooter, your popularity might go way up.;)

As John H. will attest, I am only good for walking about 50 yards, without stopping for a cigarette break. Greg is allready whining about the walk (and he hasn't even seen it yet) If its only $20 a day, we can piggy back it, or get two of them and have drag races.
What can the penalty be, for not turning it in at mid-evening...they charge for another day ? They got me for $40 a day. (24 hrs)

PS..I am trying to reserve one, and I think your est. may be a little low Doc. I actually have one (it was my deceased mother-in-laws) Those things weigh about 300 lbs., or I would consider shipping it...but its obviously cost prohibitive...Oh, wait...I will have my extra income from robbing the Ghost, that should cover it...

I know how old the desert duck is. If you will get him serviced the first night, you needn't worry about it again until maybe St. Partridge Day. :D

Viola...

Viola...

Finally contacted the casino. Scooters rent for $20 a day/ $30 for 24 hrs. They only have 7 of them, and they do not take reservations. As you will be arriving first Greg, It will be incumbent upon you to rent one for my entire stay (Sat thru Wed.)...Either put it on your card, or I will send you $150 cash...I am serious as a heart attack (sic) about needing one...(unless you want to piggy back me around)...Be forewarned, I will be taking dead aim at certain Chicago based feet and toes..:p

PS...Get a convertable, so I can impress the young chicks...Also, look into the rap for DUI while operating one...
