I've got the impression that quite a few here will attend this tournament, but only as spectators? Since it is an open tournament, why don't you enter?

I know I am not capable of doing much harm if I play a pro, but I love the oppurtunity to do that. In what other sport can a fan actually play the best?

Imagine how cool to play Efren Reyes in the biggest One Pocket tournament in the world?

Roy,

Been there, done that ! It's only cool if you're a masochist.
But you will have a great time. :)

Dick <------ is not into torture !

Hehe. It's fun to play the best, isn't? :)

I would love to hear some stories from previous years at the DCC... I am so excited, can't wait for this to actually happen...

Who is the best players here on onepocket.org?

I saw that JoeyA finished in the money last year, won $ 200. He is the only player I could reckognize on the list. Don't know the names of so many of you yet, but I can imagine some of you did better, or have in previous years?

Roy,

A lot of us do play in the tournament. Mostly because we enjoy getting our brains beat out in front of witnesses. :)

I'll be in one pocket and nine ball. Even my wife laughed when I told her I thought about playing short rack banks this year. :(

"Cool" is the one word I would not use to describe playing Efren, especially under the lights and with people snickering.

Then we will play the same tournaments. I have never played banks, don't even know the rules. But I think I am pretty good at it, because I hit the rails more often than the pockets:D

I have played Efren a couple of times in 9 ball tournaments when I used to play in them several years ago. In Reno he beat me 11/3. A few weeks later he beat me 9/zip at Hard Times. At the San Francisco tournament at Chalkers several years ago I got a bye and was to play the winner of Efren and Warren Kiamco. I was rooting hard for Warren since I had played him in a couple of tournaments and gotten close. Kiamco beat Efren hill/hill. Then I lost the lag and he put a six pack on me.

Now I only play other old guys one pocket and I will play 9 ball if they are really helpless (Like me).

That is actually pretty funny. Rooting for Kiamco, and then he put a six pack on you! Haha, that's a good story to tell people :D

I have played Efren a few times, but never in tournaments... A friend of mine played him in 9-ball, and got 5 games on the wire. My friend did a break and run to make the score 6-0, then he got a dry break, and was back on the table when the score was 7-6 to Efren :p

Well, it's now officially just 1 week till the DCC aka One Pocket Paradise......Just thought I'd revive this thread in case anybody who's going to the DCC missed it and want's to post up their particulars....

....As for me, I will be putting the petal to the metal, and walking in the door of the DCC casino in exactly 7 days, 21 hours, 19 minutes, and 12 seconds from right now.....:)

Ps, And Efren, if you're reading this and you draw me in the One Pocket Tournament, you better not make too many of those mistakes of yours, or you're going down!.......:D

Good luck I hope you beat everyone excepte Freddy playing banks. And thier is still lots of time to get in dead stroke. Go prepaired and dont forget your tools at home. And Freddy I told peaches to go. I told him you would drive him. And you would get him in the hall of fame dinner free. Because he is a wite sox fan. And I told him he gets a free 10 percent of your Dice action. And dont get bared shooting dice like you did in Las Vegas at the Stratipier. Youre to strong the dont want your buissnis. If you make a big score I will come and help you carry the money. Just ofering some help. Take 100 to 1 and bet you win the bank pool tournament. I think you can do it.Your the beard.

Thanks, and by the way, the Peach Man is one of my old pinochle partners - except he always had a bad habit of shutting out his partner, not giving him a meld bid, and bidding 70 right off the bat - and you can tell him I said that.....:D

Ps, Only Phil could stop him from making that bid if he was Phil's partner because Phil would give him the stare, or flash his gun, lol

Does Phil get excited playing pinochle. I thought he did that because he wanted a backer. I never new he gets like that. I think he is a perfect gentelman. And if you ever bid 150 peaches will never let you have the bid. But it would be great for peaches to see the one pocket tournament. And I dont think he ever seen it. And he has great stroies. THe people will love him at the hall of fame dinner. You didnt no he was a buisness man. Peaches is one of the great old time hustlers. And for his ability . He is in the top ten. And he new how to make a quarter turn into a hundred.
