I started playing one pocket at JB's Side Pocket on Bloomington and Lake streets in Minneapolis in 1980. I played all through college and thought I was pretty good until Benny "The Goose" Conway introduced me to Steve Cook in Tampa in 1994. I could beat Benny and most of the roadies that came through, but Steve taught me how much I still had to learn. He gave me 10-6 and the breaks and for the first 5 racks I never even got on the hill. I never did come up winner against him.
