So far it's a bust.

The partner match never finished with Ghost & Bernie cause Ghost is sick. I know he is very disappointed because, like me, he looks forward to this every year.

People I have played before are either not here or would not play. I spent four hours roaming around last night looking for a game and gave up and went to bed. I did have offers. Unknown guys or someone I have never seen book a loser asking for weight or wanting to play by the game, with one foot out the door when they start. I won't play by the game with players I know are taking a short shot.

A guy I beat in the Sr. one pocket who ran 8 and out the only game he won wanted 9/7 & turned down a ball.

Other guys trying to match me up with players from their hometown in a " Fair Game".

I did not turn into a nut hunter overnight after playing fair games for 50 years, but I am not going to give it away. The guys who are known action would rather get beat by "name players" than take a chance with some old man LOL.

I will try again today/tonight, but for me, it has been disappointing so far.

How do you like it John? Being surrounded by nits is what happens after you become a "known" entity. People too "smart" to match up with you would rather sit in a chair.

I guarantee you one thing for certain, if you and I had split two matches we would sure as hell be playing a third:) . Nothing could hold me back. I'm sorry I'm not there to play you, we would have had a lot of fun.

Too bad John...That you have to defend against the "nut hunters"...Maybe you should have brought a $100k, and held out for 18/4...It seems to be working for Dippy...

Artie had a very good reason for not playing and went home to Vegas.

I was just talking to Steve Lomako and he thinks Dippy hurts the regular action more than helping it.

Makes sense. All the regular action guys are pooling their $$ to take a shot at the lumber yard or are betting on the side and Dippy and his crew are getting the $$. They can come up with enough to play by the game but need way the best to play a session.

I have an east coast guy dogging me to give him a ball who I have never saw hit a ball. I offered to play a short set even for something and if I won, would adjust. No chance of him doing that.

They are playing straight pool on the TV table and the 9 ball tournament is going on. I'll try again tonight. Going home tomorrow.

I don't know how to shoot dice but I do have an extra $1,500.

Maybe I should take a shot at the casino. I could call up RA, I'm sure he has a can't lose system.

Fire away John!...Better than no action at all...

Try my guaranteed, infalable Blackjack "system"...You start out with $2400...If you do not wager over $800 per hour, you will for sure, last at least 3 hours..

You can't possibly miss...

PS..Did RA not make it this year ?

John; I heard form a reliable source that R.A. promoted Jansco's daughter for a REFUNDABLE ticket, When he was a NO SHOW she inquired. His answer was , my BACKER couldn't make it and I couldn't get a REFUND, another classic R.A. story. I wonder how the track was running that day, FAST,MUDDY,SLOW, just curious.

Speaking of people's daughters, I was interviewed by Wennie Bennie's daughter in a story she is doing about his life. First, I can't believe he had that cute a daughter and second I'd have figured she'd be much older!

Anyway, John is still doing his level best trying to get a game without a set of vice grips applied to his nuts! Strangers are asking him for spots and he is offering a race to three for a dime just to see how they should play and so far, all are not taking him up. Enjoyed following his play all week and happy to say their is still not an ounce of quit in the man, playing more hours than guys who need permission slops from their Moms to play! A lot of heart in that man.

I have come down with whatever The Ghost was passing out, so I am gonna get some sleep and head South in the mooring.

Another nice Derby but the comments about Dippy hurting the action are right on.

I appreciate, as always, everyone's friendship and fellowship.

I am not surprised at the goings on there...When a whale shows up, it kills all the normal action... Thats what Dippy do...

Dick,

Remember I wear a Tux on my last day at DCC and today the only "action" I got was a gal asking me to see the wine list at dinner! :)

Well, I finally got a little action and got beat on the hill. Played Gary Lutman a race to 5 getting 9/8. He plays good, but I had my chances & missed a combo in the hill game that might have won it. Good guy to play and very aggressive.

Runs balls too well for me.

John,

I just saw this post. I was not referring to AB being there or leaving, I didn't know either had occurred. I was referring to him telling you(for several months) that he knows he can't win even though you've each won a match. Legends and Hall of Famers are supposed to get up and play when they are 1-1 with anybody, not tell you that they are so smart they know they can't win.
