It's 1-1 in games and Red is up 4-0 this game. Bugs just made a nice shot to leave this for Red. What would you do?

I might have the courage to shoot this. Seems to be a LOT of upside to the shot unless you hit it horrible...which those two wouldn't right?

rod the first shot i saw was similar to your shot:) im learning
heres another option. the 5 might just end up by my hole and not hit the 4 . moving the 1 from the pocket like rod did is better

Larry,

Have you been down in the wine cellar again? Is the plan for the cueball to pause while the 5 crosses in front of it and then resume it's course to plant itself behind the 1:eek: ?

Larry,

I kind of like the shot that Rod showed also. I'm not absolutely certain that it would go but I just looked at the scene again and it would be close to possible. Here's what Red did. It took him a full minute & a half and looking at several different shots before he shot this.

I'm not saying the kiss is unavoidable, I'm saying that you have a 4 ball lead on Bugs so why take the chance?

If you should miss the ball and leave a cross-corner for Bugs it'll be your last shot.

Bank the 3 cross table flat into the 13 with fair power so that the cueball caroms off the 6 and gets at least below the 1 if not off the bottom rail and behind it. But for God sake, if you make a ball, do not run out as it would show too much speed (thought from another post) rofl.

If the 6hits the 1 as shown your in decent shape...being new to these WEI tables I just thought to myself this looks like a picture of a particle collision in an hadron collider /atom smasher

I haven't scrolled the responses yet, but this is probably what I'd try to be conservative:
[cuetable]http://CueTable.com/P/?@4ATPS3BMXL4CJYs3DAmS4EXua4FFaa3GPJL4HBbM3IDFW4JJQB3KDPD3LRuL3MBJF3NGHo3OUgL3PRnf3QcYu4WJYs4WbWw4WaIy3kRnf4kHFB4kSjj4kUOf@[/cuetable]

if I wanted to try to be a little more aggressive, then I'd attempt this:

[cuetable]http://CueTable.com/P/?@4ATPS3BMXL4CJYs3DAmS4EXua4FFaa3GPJL4HBbM3IDFW4JJQB3KDPD3LRuL3MBJF3NGHo3OUgL3PRnf3QcYu4WJYs4WVJb4WbIh4WQfj4WEMD4YXua4YbwT4YJAP4YBYP3kRnf4kGvo4kbpn4kaKuzc@[/cuetable]

or something like that. heh

Your first choice is what 99% of these guys (Including the Ghost) would shoot for the cash.

The WEI table makes them a little bolder than on the pool table.

Artie would also shoot this shot after looking at it for five minutes.

John is absolutely correct with what he says here.

You'all can talk about shooting those 10%-likelihood-of-success-pinball-shots if it's just for fun...but if you want to talk about reality, and what really needs to be done here playing a guy like Bugs while having a 4-0 lead in a serious match, then you shoot a careful safety like the shot that the two Johnny's have suggested...

...matter of fact, I was going to post that shot myself yesterday, but didn't, because even that shot is a little too risky for me - meaning, if you don't get the cueball perfect on the short rail, you might leave Bugs a cross-corner on the 11 ball, or a straight back offensive shot on the 10 ball...that said, I can't see a safe enough legal shot here, so my choice is - I'm going to find a for-sure safe place for the cueball, and I'm going to take an intentional scratch to get there.

I never responded because I honestly don't know what I would do here. One thing I do know is that the pinball shots, successful or not, make one pocket games a lot shorter ;) . If I am comfortable with multiple balls moving and I think I can control the cue ball, I am not taking a foul and I am not ducking, especially against a better player. Just speaking from experience the best way to beat better players is to throw their own shit back at them. If I saw an aggressive shot here I would shoot it in a heartbeat against a better player.

Personally, I think if you bunt in a situation like this against someone who knows the game and can run some balls you could easily end up in trouble. Your opponent has done you a favor by leaving you in the center of the table relatively unimpeded. Time to tax him before he taxes you.
