If there's no kiss he'll bank it to his hole and take the cue ball to the stripe near the side pocket.
If there is a kiss then he will bank it short to beat the kiss and just lay it up.

I don't think he'll attempt his famous 5 railer this time.

Right, the 1 ball is in the way of the 5 railer.:D
I agree, he'll bank it and play into the stripe.

Trying to think like Rafael here...

You don't suppose he could carom the one off the 6-ball could he? If so, he might be able to drop down to the foot and play that 5-ball bank next. Sort of like this:

ok guys
im sorry my boss expects me to work so i couldnt get away:eek: :D
my first thought was to bank the 5 use the stripe is necessary as "the brakes " and end up along the side rail with the stack as my blockers

well of course rafa sees things differently:rolleyes:
he banked the 5 with low left? to come off the end rail and spin into the stack:eek:
he didnt hit it hard enough to break them up like bugs once did
this is from the members section threads so freddy is this the same situation where bugs broke open the stack??

The best story was when Bugs first played Donnie Anderson. It was told to me by Billy Carelli, a good pool player from Cincinnati who turned race horse trainer. They were playing in Cincinnati, where Donnie had previously been unbeatable. They were see-sawing, back and forth, until Bugs played a pass-over cross corner. Donnie just assumed Bugs would cross it and return the cue ball to the end rail. Instead, Bugs pulled the cue ball with english, came off the short rail, cracked the stack and ran out. Billy said Donnie was all done after that.

I don't like the shot he selected because the stack is too loose. I play that shot when the balls are tighter together so that the cue ball can be controlled better.

I've known Matrtinez for many years. He played on my eight ball Mcdermot teams in the early nineties. We won the title a couple of times.
Just about everytime he ran out he would turn to me and say "I know that's not the way you would have done it". I would say to him doesn't matter as long as you do it.

That's the way he likes to do it. A bit chancy for me but it works for him.

not saying if you "just feel it" (like rod does:D ) you shouldnt go for the shot that just seems right
